Surprise Conference is all About 3DS

The surprise press conference Nintendo announced last week is now officially called Nintendo 3DS Conference 2011. Just by the name alone, I get the impression that there will be nothing talked about on the Wii or Wii U fronts. It is interesting to see them giving this event its own official site, possibly hinting at how big this might be. The entire event will be viewable on the website via live streaming through UStream. It starts at noon in Japan on September 13, which means September 12 for North America. Much interest is peaked for what might be revealed after recent rumors stated that a redesigned 3DS with 2 Circle Pads would be at the show. Whether or not that becomes reality, expect a good show of games to come this holiday season and early 2012.

Even assuming the rumors of a redesigned 3DS were true, there would have to be a LOT more to it than just a second circle pad. I don't think people base their portable purchases on the number or analog joysticks and/or circle pads a system has...

That said, they would have to address the biggest issue- the battery. They'd need a significantly improved battery and possibly an improved screen. The second circle pad would simply be a minor addition. Also, they need to allow existing 3DS owners to trade in theirs for the updated model on the free! Now I'm behind it.

I'm thinking about the hassle it will be to transfer all the downloaded games again.

I read somewhere that a second circle pad would mean ports from PSVita would be possible. But is it really possible? The graphics will be much better on PSVita alone.

That seems like an extremely minor consideration. If anything, PSVita should hope for ports from the 3DS... (eventually...)

In my opinion, this re-design is nonsense. They have already shat in the faces of the true blue Ninty fans... a second time in one lousy year would seriously make me reconsider my affiliation...

That being said- DAMN I hope I have internet by the 12th...
