Will mobile phone gaming kill off systems like the 3DS?
I doubt it, there will always be dedicated portables.

Oh yeah! Epic! I'll repost what I wrote on Facebook on the game:

Great jrpg, just came out last month for Wii. Only an hour in but I love the characters already, especially the free-spirited female in your crew. She is great to have on the battle field but knows how to party when you're in the pub! Also you'll run into some pretty humorous villagers. The combat looks complex, and can be, but still accessible to novice players. The main attack is done for you. All you have to do is run up to an enemy and the game attacks for you. You still have to aim the bow to attack enemies afar and run up to fallen members of your team to heal them. Presentation is top notch and cut scenes thrown in generously to keep the story intense. I just rented it but it's definitely worth buying.

The combat is actually basic as hell... until you unlock command mode and other non-time sensitive moves. Totally awesome. I'm almost 20 hours deep.

I DO have trouble calling it a jrpg because its so unconventionally explored (linear dungeons, real time battles, lack of weird japanese references etc).

Still... stellar game for the Wii to go out on. Add this to Xenoblade and Skyward Sword and you have a quite impressive last hurrah IMO.

I'm all for linear these days. Don't have time to waste on non-linear stuff that doesn't, IMO, really add enough to my gameplay experience, unless the deep feeling of wasting time counts.
