Nintendo's Satoru Iwata recently mentioned that they are looking into 3G connectivity for the DS. If they did, this would be a huge step in getting DS owners to carry their DS around with them more and bring in even more consumers. As Iwata puts it, it will allow the DS to be "always on". Should this come to be we would probably have to buy a new version of the DS or a plug in device for existing DS's, since the current hardware would not be compatible with such a service. It would be similar to Amazon's Kindle book reader but like Nintendo's online service, they'd like to keep it free. Unlimited 3G for free? Sounds tough but if anyone is going to do it, it might as well be Nintendo.
