| In this day in age where it seems more and more gamers are demanding online for their games, I'm demanding more shoulder to shoulder multiplayer titles. I've gotten more into online gaming this console era than ever before and have a load of fun doing so, but something isn't quite right. It's my surroundings. It involves only me, alone in my living room, playing games with friends who themselves are sitting in a room by themselves. When we played games together in the past, we had to be in the same room. Things got pretty loud, laughter and taunts could be heard by neighbors, and once it was all done we could all go out and continue to bond as friends do. Now an outburst looks and sounds awkward as I sit here alone...isolated. My hat goes off to Nintendo for putting in the most effort here and hope that more online games in the future will be locally multiplayer as well. | |

I assume you're talking about chat and earpieces and whatnot? Call me crazy but I don't want to listen to a bunch of shit talking children. Locally, with friends, it would definitely be cool to play a game and say to buddy A "look out!" but when I join a random room the last thing I want to do is talk to anyone, or listen to their stupid comments when I lose/slaughter them. But Wii def. fails in that regard.

| I dont play online with randoms...there is a reason you have a friends list. You are right though, randoms can be a horrible expeience. | |

| As much as the Wii is lacking in that area, I have to agree with Streex though. Same-room is just more fun for me. Unfortunately time and distance make it hard for some to game with friends, so online is a must but the enjoyment is amped up when experiencing together locally.
Especially if you're passing something around in a circle...

yes, I do love me some online gaming when you have no other option. It keeps gamers together when living so far away.
But if 3 of my friends live 20 minutes away and we are all about to jump into the same game, I'd say screw online, let's meet at so and so's house.

| Although I do like online gaming at times (see my thread on Everquest) I am much more fond of local multiplayer. There is just nothing better than getting together with friends and having a good time with your favorite games. Especially when there are so many great titles to chose from with local multiplayer (some current generation titles for the Wii are SSBB and Dokapon Kingdom). It is a shame that so many developers seem to be foregoing it. I'm glad to see High Voltage Studios putting local multiplayer into Conduit 2, as no local multiplayer was one of the main reasons I skipped the first one.
*Remembers the countless hours playing Perfect Dark...*

| I'm with you all the way, Lier X. I was all on board for The Conduit. The one thing that stopped me from buying it was the lack of local multiplayer. Online CANNOT take precedence over local for me. | |

| I love how even with the much improved online on Wii U, Nintendo is still bringing the fun local multiplayer. I bet my experience with Tekken online wouldn't have been as fun if Triz wasn't sitting/playing next to me. Having my sister and her fiance over for New Years provided tons of fun playing New Super Mario Bros. U. Turns out she is pretty darn good at that game! When we played Mario Kart Wii it was a riot shoulder to shoulder compared to the old online days (sorry Antilles, those days were fun too). Not saying online gaming isn't fun, but local multiplayer will never be beat. | |

| My Wii U already has enough Miis to nearly hit the limit of what a Wii can hold in its plaza- and they are all from people who have come over just to play Nintendo Land! It's ridiculous. I was just looking at page after page after page. It's crazy. People have come in droves to enjoy the amazing same-room multiplayer experience that just the pack-in for the Wii-U offers! | |
