I'm seeing a lot of commercials for this game. 2K is marketing this one hard but reviews recommend just a rental will do. What's the verdict?

PostSubject: Spliffy is here!!!!!! Don't read if planning on playing the game.   Fri Sep 10, 2010 2:51 pm

Well lucky for ya'll Streex is a great detective and a man with tongue. I was moved with great passion to post a comment on multi platform title Mafia II following the personal email I received this past week. So I hope you enjoy.

As most gamers know by now Mafia II is the poor man's GTA. You start out as kid named Vito Scaletta who gets busted in the Little Italy section of Empire City and is then sent to fight in WWII. You do a scene there and then boom your back with your best friend Joe in Empire City where he makes a call and boom your out of the military. So now you go home see your mom and sister, find out that your dead father owes some money, do some jobs with Joe, who has been doing jobs with one of the three Families. Then boom (yeah boom again or maybe i'll use bada bing) you get busted, go to jail. You actually do some time which I thought was cool. You get protected by this old guy, Leo who works for the Vinci family, which before you were doing jobs for the Celante family (I think thats what is was). So you kill this Mick in jail do a few favors and then bada bing your out. So you meet up with Leo on the outside he hooks you and Joe up with the Falcone family and the first thing you gotta do is waste the Celante family. Then you and Joe become made men in the Falcone family. You end up bringing in this guy Henry who was in the Celante family and who was the guy you did some jobs with earlier and saved his life. So Henry is orderd to kill your pal Leo cuz now the Falcone's and the Vinci's are fueding. So you race to save his life, Henry lets him live on your behalf and Leo skips town. You end up trying to sell drugs with Henry which is a Mafia no no, and find out the Vinci's are already selling drugs, so now you are on the brink of starting a war. Henry ends up being a FBI informant and in brutally killed. So now the Falcone's want you dead for bringing in a snitch. Then Leo shows up says he can save you if you kill off the Falcone's, so you go to do that and Joe steps in and puts a gun to your head. You talk him down and then you and Joe kill off Falcone. You come out, Leo says get in the car, nice job. Joe gets in another car, that car turns, you say where they taking Joe, Leo says Joe wasn't part of the deal. The End.

So thats it, Mafia II in a nut shell. You drive old cars, shoot old school guns and dress sharp if you want. You can personize license plates and paint cars any color. Finally, the only really awesome part to this game is that Playboy is a sponsor and you can collect pics of naked chicks.

Peace
81!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you've completed the game. How would you rate it? This game is apparently very popular in Europe right now. Sounds like a fun game! That Joe guy seems like quite the character.

3 stars. Not bad I guess for, as you put it, a poor man's GTA.

In my book, 3 stars means rent, don't buy unless you are a huge fan of the franchise.
