3DS looks to feature backlit buttons

Look closely at the image above. It was taken recently at the Tokyo Game Show of EA's My Garden demo. With the lighting just right it appears as if all the buttons on the system are backlit. The slide pad doesn't seem to have any backlighting, but everything else from the D-Pad to the 3D Slider seem to be illuminated. If this is true, it would mark the first time Nintendo has done this. Seems like it would be a nice touch but not very necessary. We've gotten along fine without it in the past but at least those that play in the dark and haven't memorized the button locations will find this useful. It hasn't been confirmed so we'll have to mark this as rumor for now.
