| The haters were out in force late last year when the Wii started to falter in sales. Tsk tsk. Finished as the best selling home console of 2010 at over 7 miilion sold, only behind overall hardware sales to the DS which had over 8.5 million sold. The Wii pushed almost 2.5 million in December alone.
It the larger scheme of things, Nintendo has now sold the most consoles 5 years in a row, and more than half of all hardware sales have been for Nintendo platforms the last ten years.
When it comes to software more trends were bucked in December on the Wii. Third party game Just Dance 2 was the best selling title on any console. 3 of the top 5 were exclusive to Wii (Just Dance 2, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Epic Mickey). For all of 2010, 9 of the top 15 selling games are on Nintendo platforms.
After looking over at what Nintendo has done, not only last year but the last decade, I was surprised. Nintendo has over half the market share leaving anyone else to fight over the crumbs. With the continued success of the Wii Nintendo is in no hurry to roll out the next console.

| Yes, and it's worth noting that most of the top games on other consoles are also available on PC- for less... and without a monthly fee for playing online. I've got L4D, L4D2, and RE5, and I paid less than $20 for them combined. And the cost to play them online? Nothin'.
I been playing Smash Bros more again, lately. Not only does that game never get old, it gets more fun every time I play. It's like a perpetual fun machine. Anyway, LONG LIVE NINTENDO!!!

| I love that fact sheet. Speaking of porn, they left out one of Nintendo's early endeavors. Running hourly hotels (or is it motels?) in Japan. | |

It's funny you mention that. I saw it mentioned in a Steam article. Places where people can do naughty stuff, then play video games.

| I don't drink Kool-aid.
Besides, it matters little. They (M$) need to double what theyve sold in order to even compete with the Wii. Maybe YOU are drinking the Anti-Nintendo Kool aid? lol

| Nintendo has had a remarkable run, but I'm thinking the Wii is about to hit a rough year in 2011. Sales were down in 2010 even with the best software lineup since launch. Please Nintendo, show us the next console at E3. | |

| I think they are gonna focus hard on the 3ds, the Wii is going to be their 2011 console, thats my guess. E3 new console showing would be cool but doubtful to me. Friggin' Skyward Sword isnt even out yet. | |
