| I've figured it out! Does anyone else wonder why they would continue such a badly floundering franchise after all this time? Did you assume maybe they said, "Hey, maybe if we put effort into this one, we can revive the franchise! I got some new ideas!"
Wrong! Here's what REALLY happened!
Folks at Nintendo are excited about the Wii-U. In thinking up uses for the new controller, they realized all of the possibilities for Mario Party. Then they remembered that though the previous 2 systems each had Multiple MPs under their belts, Wii only had one. Also, if Mario Party were to make a glorious resurgence on Wii-U, wouldn't it be much more awesome if it were MARIO PARTY 10?!!?!? Of course! But that means we need to toss out a 9 on Wii to get ready...

| 10 is a much bolder number than 9, but I would hope they would finally give the game a subtitle. They finally gave Mario Kart a number, how about finally giving Mario Party a subtitle? Maybe Mario Party: Princess in Peril. Give the one player mode a more fleshed out story line with the character trying to reach Bowser to save Peach. Then depending on which character you use to save Peach determines the ending. Multiple endings! Like what if you used WaLuigi to save her? She would do something completely different than give him a kiss on the nose or bake a cake like she would for Mario. | |

| It's possible, I suppose- especially given who's developing it. See, the rest were all made by Hudson. They were great once, (Bomberman!) but not only were they losing it, they're now gone entirely. (Eaten by Konami.)
Oh yeah, the fancy new developer? N I N T E N D O.
Awwwww..... YEAH! | |

| Bah! You were always a MP-hater. I loved MP. It was absolutely brilliant when it first came out. Since then they kinda rode the one brilliant idea straight into the ground. (Hudson does that- I mean seriously, Bomberman will be fun forever, but what significant improvements or innovations did they ever make to it? None.) | |

| Stop hating on my Mario Party! I didn't notice that Nintendo is making this one, awesome! But that also explains why I haven't heard a single detail since E3 when it was meant to be out this year... I don't particularly like giving it a subtitle, unless they think of something awesome. Good idea for the story mode though. Wish they would hurry up with MP9 though. | |

| I don't think it's going to make it this year. I'll guess maybe sometime in February. | |

| Auto-FAIL. It's a Christmas game. It's a game people buy for their family for Christmas. I doubt it makes a good Valentine's Day gift... | |

| I think they're hoping it to be a filler game to give us something early next year to play. Kind of like Mario Sports Mix was for this year. | |

| Lol Matthew999. If anyone is going to buy Mario Party 9, I'd expect it to be you.
I think Mario Party 10 on Wii U with the tablet controller is going to change the formula even more. Can't wait.

| For the record, I'm loving Mario Party 9. I think a lot more thought went into this game than would first appear. I was skeptical at first about everyone riding together, but I see now it works very well. Some changes have a more subtle impact than others. Overall, most changes serve to keep the game going at a much snappier pace. (With Toad telling you exactly how far away each space is, and with everyone always together, for instance, you no longer have players spending 5 minutes or more analyzing the board before rolling the dice or selecting alternate routes!)
The minigames are a lot less stale, too. Some have us laughing out loud as we play them again, like we used to in the old MPs.

I think Mario Party 10 on Wii U with the tablet controller is going to change the formula even more. Can't wait. I sure did! Had it pre-ordered a month before release. I'm much more pleased with it than recent MP's but I still think the first 3 are the best. I hope MP10 at least gives us the "classic mode" option. I wouldn't mind too much if they made it the last as long as they made it a real big celebration of the series with all the boards, minigames, characters, etc returning in new HD graphics along with the usual new content and the awesome stuff Wii U can offer. One can dream, anyway...

| That collection would be epic. All the Mario Party games on one Wii U disc? Who wouldn't buy that? | |

| I've been dreaming of that exact same thing, Matt.
Streex, I'm not sure he was meaning a collection. Just all the boards and characters. That's what I was wanting, too- a MP with all the old stuff combined in one game. Maybe tweak a few, like the jacked up stuff from MP5.
