Wii Hi Fi?

The journalist from gameblog.fr are on a leash recently. After implying that they already saw Metal Gear Solid Rising running at Kojima productions, and leaking Mizuguchi's next game code name (Child of Eden), they are now affirming that Nintendo's next console will be called Wii HiFi. According to what game developers told them, it will be announced at the right end of Nintendo's E3 conference, and it is planned to release around November 2011. Here are the details that have leaked so far:

• It should be on par with the 360
  
• It should not be called Wii 2 but Wii HiFi
  
• It will be very online-oriented this time
  
• Community aspects will be a big component
  
• It should be out around November 2011
  

They don't know how much Nintendo will be showing at E3 though: just the name? Maybe the design? The controller?

So what do you guys think? Isn't it too early to show it if they plan on releasing in November 2011?

I agree, too early. Probably speculation. I mean, the 3DS and the Wii Hi-Fi all coming out very soon after the DSi XL... Talk about over-saturation!

I don't think it is true, I mean, would Ninty really let this big cat out of the bag before E3? From the tight lips we are seeing surrounding Zelda Wii, I doubt it.

Releasing it Nov. 2011 would be right on schedule. With the 5 year cycle that is. I'm hoping for the announcement, and that better be the code name...if any of this is true.

Whether it's true or not, it wouldn't be a bad idea. Beef up what's under the hood, include 1080P, update the software to do away with the friend code nonsense, and put out a new controller that's basically what we have now, but with the wii motion plus built in. That way, people who have invested in four of every expensive bloody peripheral don't feel shafted. The old controllers would still work fine. Everybody's happy.

I don't think anyone thinks a new system would be a bad idea, using the same controllers would be cool, that's for sure.

And a new one with built in motion plus would be sexy.

I think if they just steered away from making EVERYTHING motion controlled and start focusing on the game play / story, NINTY WOULD OWN BITCHES. Although i will admit motion control is cool but not for EVERYTHING

Well in their defense Nintendo isn't usually the one waggle-izing everything. The Wii Series does a pretty good job of introducing ways of utilizing motion control. But shit like raving rabbids or boom blox is just retarded.

Nintendo seems to focus much more on story and gameplay when it matters, like with the big franchises.

idk... twilight princess sword swinging got ooooold. I will admit nintendo does a decent job, but still, too much waggle. They should allow the classic controller to be used instead of waggle for some games i declare.

Only defense I'll give them is it was a GCN game first. I, too, wish it was just a button press.

oh hi ESRB website what have you got for streex today....

This ESRB rating pretty much confirms multiplatform NBA Jam. Those of you still hoping for online on the Wii, they are working feverishly to get it running smoothly. They've tested out the online on Wii but it's still wonky. Hopefully they get it right soon or they might scrap it.

You can trust ESRB. Whatever that gameblog.fr is... is just good for amping the hype rumor mill.

EDIT: They've yanked the PS3/360 versions off of the ESRB site, but that just means they are trying to keep it a secret. I'm afraid I'm with Triz on this one...it's going multiplatform.

Meh, multi-platform equals I no longer give a shit. $50 I can save for something NOT made by EA.
