Pikmin

Miyamoto's gardening hobby turned into this wonderful strategy game. Cute little pikmin running this way and that doing your bidding. Rich atmospheric music to give you that alone in space feeling is excellent. The pikmin were small but the environments were well drawn and beautiful to look at. Your goal in this game is to collect all 30 ship parts within 30 days to make it back home. Currently playing it again and I got 22 ship parts to go. It never gets old. Can't believe we're still waiting for part 3.

Hopefully with part 3 it will be awesome. Anything less will piss fans off. Wife played the new play control version, said it was cool but not any more or less enjoyable.

Does the new play control version give you better control over the Pikmin like it's supposed to?

I wouldn't say better, so much as another option. Some will like one more than the other, I suppose. She said either way was fine, but it didn't make it BETTER.

It looks like with the new Pikmin 3 the better way to play it is with the Wiimote/Nunchuk, however I bet I'll be playing it with the GamePad. I was just fine with the GameCube controls and I think it will be handy to have the map in front of me to find all the parts.

Maybe you can still use the wiimote and just keep the map in your lap...

Whatever captain hater says, (I kid the Triz!) these are some very fun games. Although the E3 site showed it as a 1-player game, I am hoping that was just an error. Is Pikmin 3 supposed to have multiplayer? Is anything confirmed? I've said it before, but I loved the versus mode in Pikmin 2. (The co-op mode wasn't quite as fun.)

According to Miyamoto, it will have co-op local multiplayer but not online.

Heck, I wasn't even thinking of online, but now that you mention it, that seems like a missed opportunity. I know he likes the same-room dynamic, and I agree that's more fun for most stuff, this could benefit a lot from everyone having their own screen.
