Will mobile phone gaming kill off systems like the 3DS?
I doubt it, there will always be dedicated portables.

Internet = free for all. Nintendo does have to accept this someday...

I knew what you meant. Just seemed like a good place to rant about "censorship."

I don't know about your internet, Z, but mine costs money. Razz

At any rate, even with people doing vulgar things with Miis, there really was no way for someone to see these vulgar Miis if they didn't want to, aside from having vulgar friends. In the case of vulgar friends, there's accountability there, so it's not likely to happen much. This is like how in Smash Bros you couldn't sent text taunts to strangers, but you could in friend matches. This gives you more control over what your kids are exposed to.

I don't think Nintendo is trying to control the internet- they're just trying to make sure parents have as much control as possible for as little hassle as possible. That's not an unwise effort to make.

Well- it is a missed opportunity ignoring people who don't want the hassle. Coudln't it all be turned on or off depending on the owner? Why not give the user a choice in the matter?

And if you're anything like my neighbors, internet is free- as in, you steal it from the McDonalds!!! lol

I take the high road and pay for 10 meg, lol.

Nintendo should be a little more allowing and blame the parents for not utilizing the parental controls that come with all Nintendo hardware. The parental controls don't cover everything but they do a good job, like not allowing the Wii to play a game over a certain rating without inputing a code. I'm not sure if this is an option but a block to go online at all would be nice, or just a block to go online with strangers. Sadly most consumers don't even know or care to use them in my experience. After all, the thinking is it's Nintendo and Nintendo is for the kids...right?

I'm not sure blaming your customers is good business sense...

A lot of business sense has gone out the window lately with Nintendo.

Maybe coming out and directly blaming parents isn't the best way to do it, but perhaps when the parents come pitchforking when little Timmy is surfing porn on his Nintendo console, kindly refer them to the parental control section of the owners manual.

That's more or less what their competitors already do. Not having to worry about it is what puts Nintendo ahead in parents' eyes.

E3 is just a week away! Come on down Ninfest Nation and join us in the chat box June 5th at 9am PST to discuss what Nintendo unveils in their press conference. The chat box will be at the top of the home page that day so it will be easy to find and jump right in. Nintendo has had the best conference 3 years running. Will they go for the 4peat? I bet my Power Glove they will!

And don't forget! If any of you want to join us for a little E3 eve GoldenEye gaming, we'll be playing for an hour Sunday, June 3rd starting at 6pm PST. Get your friend codes up if you plan on joining!
