| First of all I 100% disagree with your statement on software line-up. This launch was complete ASS. Not one game is deserving of any sort of recognition save SSF4, which still is only a port of a game 2 years old.
Rayman 3d? Poorly ported Rayman 2. Splinter Cell 3d? Poorly ported crap.
Ridgeracer, Shadow Wars, and the Lego titles are all decent but none are more than 5 hours long. I've had this thing for 2 months. I don't even have any AR stuff to unlock or puzzles t find. Its all done. My 3DS SITS HERE DOING NOTHING.
The 3 Nintendo titles were all barely complete games, none of them (save Nintendogs which, to be fair isnt even a game its a sim) are longer than the 5 hour mark unless high score shit is your bread and butter.
As for moving this to a date like E3, I am pissed. Do you know busy the servers will be? Do you know how many times you will have to try and try to download, or how long it could take? I remember when Mega Man 9 was first released... shit was SLOW! This is a shitty hype move that screws the first wave of 3DS owners out of any bragging rights. Thanks a lot assholes!

| I think ZeldAnTales, you are massively disappointed because you had that thing on night and day. As someone that has about an hour a day, I'm still trudging through the built in software, still working on my SSF4, and still looking for the time to crack into Pilotwings Resort.
Saving all the updates for one big occasion may be a disaster, I agree. But once it is downloaded it's going to feel fresh again with an assortment of new features. There will be a free downloadable game off the eShop when it arrives. Yes, this will be a problem too if you try to get it day one. I'm also hoping for gradual updates in the future. Don't worry, by the time the year ends the 3DS will have more functionality than the DSi XL. And since it should still be $250 by the holidays, buying it early doesn't hurt you any.
And don't talk bad about the Broadband Adapter for GameCube Antilles! That thing gave me my first deep look at the world of online gaming.
I got lucky and found a GameStop employee that has 5 puzzles on his 3DS. I'm going to make repeat visits to grab them all. Finally making some progress!

| I didn't have it on night and day, and I have to wonder what it is you do all day that limits your gaming so! I watch my kids, work (6-7 hours day), am in 2 bands, do booking for several clubs, and still log in hours and hours of gaming.
So saying I was using it 24/7 is a mute point, because plenty of others besides me are much more involved in gaming than even I. By comparison, I game far less often than an average gamer.
The point is, I didn't rush using the thing: they rushed releasing it.

| I was teasing you Z! You truly are a modern day wonder. I honestly don't know how you do all that AND have time to game. Are you sure you don't have 48 hour days?
My hope is that June gets here soon so you guys can be satisfied with Nintendo once more.

| Oh you. Naw, I am just frustrated because, well, I bought this with the assumption that it would be hella sweet. That charm lasted a few weeks, but the desire to play something on it is pummeled by the lack of software.
And is further flamed by the lack of good wii titles coming along, even 3rd party-wise. When a new set of micro games (spongebob squigglepants by wayforward) is the best title to grace us since Christmas season... ugh.
Also @ Streex: Kirby's Epic Yarn is crap-tastical. Its easy, and to the point of saying why bother playing? I don't even have to try!

You know honestly, I'd probably be in the same boat as you if it wasn't for the good ol backlog. There's never a dull moment or dry season for me. It's so easy for me to overlook the down months when I'm exploring the deeper levels of Super Mario Galaxy for the first time. You and anybody else that is frustrated now has a right to rant.

| @Antilles: Honestly, the game I play/ed most was/is Pilot Wings and I shut the 3D off when I play that one. That SERIOUSLY reduces battery consumption! Also- it can be on standby for longer than 24 hours off the cradle, and not die. I proved that when I left it in our band studio for 2 days!!! OOPS!
And not to brag, Streex, but my backlog is as big as yours(LOL)... But, with many of the systems needed being in storage I have no means to play. Limits my gaming a bit.

| Most of my stuff is in storage too. lol. I made sure to keep my consoles and games in storage here instead of in the storage yard so I can at least take the 10 minutes required to pull them out.
For me, I consider my backlog shameful. In a way though it is nice to always have something new.

| Yeah, all my Sega stuff is way too deep in the gaming closet for me to want to get it all out again. I have, literally, over 50 games on Genesis/CD/32x alone in my backlog... FAIL! Don't get me started on all the PS1 rpgs I have yet to crack! | |

I know, right? I just got Pilotwings for my birthday and I can't put it down. I don't know how such a boring-looking game got its hooks into me! Now, if only it had multiplayer jetpack deathmatch... I can't turn the 3D off, though. I just can't do it. I feel like I am betraying my new best friend when I do that. Plus, though I sometimes accidentally tilt it wrong and get totally jacked up when the image goes all screwy, it's still beautiful 3D. I can't believe my eyes are actually having to focus differently, depending on what I'm looking at. I can see why some optomotrists say this may actually be good for your eyes!

| I read in an interview in the latest NP that 3d wasnt even on the table in the beginning. This leads me to believe it is just an extra glaze, not part of any meat of the game.
That being said my PilotWings visit was VERY short, only Diamond class is really a challenge and there are only 3 of them!

| I read that, too, but I don't draw the same conclusion. Certainly, the 3D isn't the only upgrade, (much better graphics and some other minor improvements, too,) but it quickly became the most important. Just look at all of the features on the 3DS. By far the majority of them are because of the decision to add 3D. Its name has 3D in it, and 3D is it's most identifying trait. (Sadly, that last is what Nintendo blames for lower than expected sales in the US- people don't realize it's also a much more powerful DS.)
I don't know if motion control was on the table when they started work on the Wii, but it certainly became very important, even if it wasn't implemented perfectly. Features don't have to be decided on from the start to be important or great. Besides- by the time developers were working on games, 3D was there, so it's a moot point. Whether they use it well or not, it's always been a part of the system when it mattered.

| 3D was something Nintendo always had in the back of their mind. They tested the market with the Virtual Boy and it was a disaster in its simple form, but even with the DS Phat they had come across the 3D topic, but the tech was still too expensive. | |

| Well- I see your point. But I was meaning that in terms of gameplay, 3d is not all too important in the devs eyes. A nice treat, to be sure, but doesn't deepen the experience by any leaps or bounds. Much like a 3d movie's 3d effect has little impact on the movie being "good" from a critics point of view.
Theres always exceptions mind you, and I'm sure we will see a dev use the 3d in an amazing way.
