Late 2012 launch? We got some waiting to do. But I am hyped! Backwards compatible and HD. I say launch it with a glove peripheral. Ok maybe not.

I said it on the phone to you Streex, but please Nintendo let me play Zelda / Mario / Donkey Kong / and Metroid with a fucking standard controller. None of this waggle bullshit.

It would be absolutely amazing if this second screen made it possible to play DS games on TVs. That is one thing I hate about some of handheld games- I'd rather play it on a TV.

Luckily with GBA we have the Gamecube Player, which I used for Golden Sun, All the GBA Zeldas, etc.

As for the power... I can't say I didn't expect this. The Wii, while in my opinion still a damn fine console, was wimpy, used a lot of cheap shit, and sold like hot cakes. Spent less $$$, got more. Unlike the other 2 guys, who put their money on newest biggest baddest out of the gate. An admirable approach, to be sure. They lack 1st party titles of any original/ingenuity (I know there are exceptions), but I suppose thats opinion (not really).

But Nintendo has made serious cash with the Wii. Even if sales are drooping now, it matters little. The branding has been done. If this new console is everything the hype says (or even half!) then we have Nintendo taking the lead on the impending console war.

That second screen would be perfect if it was touch screen. Then all 3DS/DS games could be played on Wii 2, as long as they give us the means on the software end. I'm also hearing a rumor on Blu-Ray.com that the Wii 2 will have a blu-ray drive. When this was first mentioned last year many people scoffed at the idea that Nintendo would pay Sony for that. Is it possible or just a reemerging rumor that needs to get squashed? It all sounds very expensive. I think Nintendo could squeeze it all in a $400 package but that's not like Nintendo. They're slowly getting more expensive but I can't see this Wii 2 being more than $300.

I also think Nintendo would want to integrate some kind of motion control in the new controllers. After all, they started this motion craze. I don't think they want to forget about it.

Definitely. Motion controls when executed properly can definitely add some good gameplay mechanics. I am guessing $349.99 is gonna be the sweetspot. As for Blu Ray... well if its HD its basically got to be Blu Ray, right?
