Im surprised they are coming out at this price point. Really figured with the tech behind it it would be more than a 3DS...IMO a real bitchslap to Nintendo. How long till we see a price cut on the 3DS?

A bitchslap? More like a "Don't forget about us!" maneuver IMO. They've proved with the PS3 (hell, and PSP, right?) that they are willing to take a hit in the hardware sale dept.

Either way- this dumb shit has nothing (even less than the 3DS) that appeals to me yet, so I will be waiting probably... until after the new Ninty console. Unless this thing turns out to be a monster.... which I doubt it will.

On the surface it seems like the better deal. All this better tech sans 3D at the same price? But it's going to come down to software, and even though the 3DS is still lacking, Sony has the reputation of failing a portable on the software end.

And we don't even know for sure if it will play retail games or if it's 100% digital! Why haven't they confirmed? I'm not too impressed with it either. Once again Sony not innovating, just improving/adding existing tech.

And somebody tell my why at Sony's presser they said they are the first to do AR games? They better read in the paper or something. We have a 3DS.

If Nintendo does lower their price this early, it'll be a slap in the face to those loyal fans who bought the 3DS the moment it came out.

Now I know the general rabble are going to give me crap for this. "Sony put their superior machine out for the same price as Nintendo! Nintendo is losing it!" Of course we know time will prove Nintendo the victor again, but what do I say to them now? They are incapable of understanding the "copycat" or "superior games" arguments.

I know, its aggravating. They ignore that its shallow innovation because its technically "better."

I dunno. You might bring up the brick black and white GameBoy beating the color Game Gear. But it doesn't quite paint the perfect picture since the GameBoy launched at $90 while the Game Gear was $150. Ummm... I'd just start taking bets and by this time 2 years from now you'll be rich.

Say what you want, I am not a fanboy. I love many other systems just as much as Nintendo consoles.

In fact- with the exception of the 360 I've owned every console there is save a few turds (Apple's Pippin, for example). And in terms of FIRST PARTY PUBLISHED games, there is one clear victor: Nintendo.

Sure, Sony has some great stuff. M$, I don't really agree- perhaps Xbox LIVE has some stuff to offer me but if downloadables are a selling point then there really is no selling point for me.

So let's get this clear: What franchises do SONY and M$ have?

SONY: Ratchet and Clank, Jax, God of War, Little Big Planet... Anything I'm forgetting? Gears of War, right? We're talking EXCLUSIVES.

M$- Gaylo, Viva Pinata... What else is their IP? Honestly, I don't know. lol

Nintendo: Mario, Zelda, DK, Kirby, Star Fox, Fire Emblem... And though not every title in every franchise is a winner- clearly they are more intriguing than the other companie's properties: the amount of sequels alone should tell you that.

Before anyone starts yelping that Nintendo had these established before the other companies even came around: Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Sin and Punishment, Pokemon Prof. Layton. All games made after at least SONY came around. Some after M$.

M$ does deserve a little more slack in that dept, but not much. The IP's that they have produced are trite garbage.

So honestly- who has MOST of the MOST POPULAR ips? Well its obvious.

If you include PC, their "exclusives" dwindle further. For instance, I can get Little Big Planet whenever I want, and probably superior to its console counterpart.

M$ deserves no credit. What good they do have comes from companies they bought. M$ can't do anything themselves- they have to buy others who can.

Even when M$ tries to buy success, it doesn't always work out. Rare for example. Nintendo had them when they were hot and let M$ have the scraps.

Indeed. We don't mind being enlightened. We don't pretend to know everything about M$ or Sony, (nor do I really care to put forth the effort to- it's just not worth it.) Still, I don't mind being given information. Obviously we're opinionated. It's hard not to have an opinion when Nintendo does such great work. It's not to say the two newbies don't have some good stuff- just that they're overrated and, for my part, not worth my limited time (and especially cash.)

Vita wont be making a US debut this holiday as many expected.

Good news for the 3DS.

Very good news for the 3DS. No competition means they have a good shot at raking in another successful holiday.

BWAAA-hahahaah! With the price drop, it means they have time got get such a foothold in handhelds the Vita stands even less of a chance! This is assuming Nintendo and 3rd parties can manage to get a few more good games out.

I'm thinking with the boatload of Ninty first parties due this holiday... 3DS has it in the bag!
