What are your thoughts on 3DS?

I love it. My retail game collection has quietly grown to 10 in its first year. My downloading has slowed to a crawl on WiiWare/DSiWare, but eShop has a great selection of downloadable titles. I turn it on almost every day and when I don't, it's only because it was a very busy day. If I have a moment to spare I always flip it open. Still love getting all the SwapNotes from you guys too.

Nintendo has proven that game centric devices can still thrive in a smartphone gaming world, with 17 million of these already out the door. It's also cool to see the long tail Nintendo theory still at work with games like Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land still lighting up the sales charts. Even if I haven't been too fond of Kid Icarus: Uprising, I love that it is still selling a ton of copies, half a million already sold. Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land have both crossed 5 million and are still going strong.

I can honestly say I've never liked a portable gaming system quite as much as I do the 3DS. At first I thought there was no way it could beat DS sales, but now I think what if...

Its yet another Nintendo console that will remain dormant until the next Nintendo game I have to play comes out for it. And if more of those titles are like Kid Icarus, Count me out.

Triz, I know you think there aren't any good eShop games, but if you consider yourself a multi-console gamer, you have to give it a fair shake. There are too many good titles available. You can't just look at them briefly and say that they aren't good. I have many on my system and you never want to try them out. Instead you just assume they are bad. Give them a shot. As it stands your opinion on the system is severely uneducated due to a lack of experience.

I'm confused. Are you saying it's ok for you to judge the entire eShop catalog before playing them because I do (apparently)? That makes no sense.

I will give games on other consoles a score based on first impression, simply because I'll probably never get to it. That is completely different than a score on something I've put in at least 3 or 4 hours on. Sorry if I have never been clear on that. That is the reason why I won't give my star rating opinion on Kid Icarus. Because I haven't played it long enough yet. I have shared my displeasure, but no final score administered.

Besides, it doesn't matter what I do. My rating system has been seen as flawed by you and others. Don't follow down the same dank and dark road as I've taken. I'm a Nintendo gamer first and foremost, and I've never strayed from that self-labeling. You pride yourself as a multi console gamer. If anyone is supposed to be neutral, it's you. If you want to continue to carry that title, than you have to truly be neutral and give a fair shake to all consoles. By blindly trashing a whole set of eShop games with no merit, that tells me you are not a true multi-console gamer. You may own the consoles, but playing them gives you that "multi" status.

Eh, no need for the long rebuttle. I buy waht interests me in the download space. Stuff like Zen Pinball. Its not your fault Nintendo doesnt cater to the larger DLC market space. Hey look at this article that touches on our discussion.

I can understand their disappointment with Nintendo's early online structure, but I'm sure Nintendo, with outside assistance, is going to improve in the online space with Wii U. To say that they'll never do business with Nintendo again is a bit naive, and not much of a loss on Nintendo's part. The only game they ever brought to Nintendo was MDK2.

Sure, you'll download what interests you. But that doesn't mean the stuff that doesn't interest you is bad.

I just wish you would both stop hating on Kid Icarus. Even as a lefty, I'm loving this game more and more every time I play it. I may even convince my busy wife to play through it- it's just too fun to miss out on!

As for Bioware...

a. Screw them. (Yes, I'm well aware of who they are and their accomplishments.)
b. Square did the same thing for awhile, but they came back.

Nintendo's specifications are tight and their expectations are high. This is true. If they actually thought a DLC version of MDK2 was gonna do well, its the company's own fault for saying yes in the first place! Nintendo says hey you agreed, now you lose! and somehow Nintendo is the bad guy here?

Yeah bummer Baldur's Gate isn't gonna be on the Wii U my heart is broken.
