| I saw some other GCN titles on here, and wondered why ToS wasn't mentioned yet! On a system not well known for its rpgs, ToS filled the gap many of us oldschool rpg-ers have been longing for on the Gamecube. Great characters/design, fantastic music (as usual for a Tales of... game), the cliche story is kind of expected, its a JRPG from Namco Bandai I mean what the hell did you expect, some Atlus #@#$? Nevertheless, the story takes so many dips and twists that it kept me interested for over 80+ hours of gaming greatness. Oh, it looked very nice, to boot! | |

| It kept me busy for close to 80 hours as well. Loved it for most of the reasons you do. It did frustrate me at the battles where you are supposed to lose but don't know it (I believe this happens only twice). I'd sit there using up all my healing items only to eventually die. Then the story progresses and my jaw drops. Oh...I was supposed to lose. Now I have to go spend a bunch of money to fill up my inventory again. You'd think I'd just reset and do it over, but in both instances I hadn't saved for quite some time and didn't want to redo an hour + of the game. This game also touched me emotionally. The emotion of sadness is rarely pulled off in games but this is one of them. And of course, like all 40+ games, when I finished it I was sad that my adventure had come to an end. After spending so much time bonding with a great game I always feel a little depressed when it's time to move on. I still haven't jumped into the Tales of Symphonia on the Wii yet, but it's sitting over there waiting for me. | |

| I watched my sister play some of it and was sickened by its halfassedness. The series has been on a decline since Legendia IMO. If I had to put them in order itd be: Symphonia, Legendia, Destiny, Phantasia, The Abyss, Destiny 2. That's American only releases anyways. | |

| Now I'll be going into it with lowered expectations. That might actually help me enjoy it more if I'm expecting suckage. | |

| It uses a monster battle system as well as placing you with pre leveled characters from Symphonia. They do not advance, no changing their weapons if I'm not mistaken. The monster raising is not unlike Dragonquest's mixed with Pokemon, really. | |

| Doesn't sound too bad. I loves me some Pokemon. No experience with the Dragon Quest franchise yet. The pre leveled characters... does this mean less grinding? I'm not to fond of grinding and this might play in my favor. | |

| Well, yeah I guess you could look at it that way. lol I don't mind Pokemon-style stuff but as for putting it in one of my favorite series... well... FAIL. hahaha. Try it out, you may find I'm wrong! | |

| Still haven't given the Wii title a go. lol. Sometimes I forget I have it. It sits in the back row of my game collection so it goes unnoticed most of the time. | |

| Just found out that this was the most successful Tales game in the west. Hideo Baba explains his reasoning as to why: - Quote :
- "I believe the success of Tales of Symphonia has multiple factors to it, the first being that it was the first Tales title that was rendered in 3D polygons, so we believe that was a huge component to its success. Another huge component was that we had a lot of support from Nintendo, so that allowed us to reach out to a broader audience that we weren't able to reach before."
