I downloaded the demo of this game, and found it to be pretty fun.
So after Christmas, with the last of my Nintendo Points (500), I downloaded this game. I'm a Gaijin Games fan so why not, right?
First off- This really should have been in the Bit Trip series, but this one is technially by a different dev (Different Cloth) so I guess I can forgive them of that. HOWEVER- The graphical style and integration of rhythm-based motion-controlled game play is basically identical.
So, is it any good? I am happy to say it is. Taking its cue from Bit Trip Beat, this game has you twirling the remote forwards and backwards to control the movement of your "line." It is quite responsive, although I will note that in playing I consistently wanted to tilt the controller rather than roll it forward. Once you iron out that quirk (if indeed you have it) the game controls well.
The music is fun, even better if you're a fan of drum 'n' bass electronica. Some of the tunes are a tad on the forgettable side, and some have a bit too much sampling nonsense in their beginnings. All in all, it fits like a glove for the game and is a joy.
The design looks great, the colors are well defined and 8-bit as all get out. Its a little plain, and truth be told some of the level designs are meh and uninteresting.
It took me 2 days to beat all the levels, probably about 3 hours after all is said and done. Some might say its a bit steep, but striving for highscores keeps me coming back from time to time and the game's music makes it great for parties.
