The real Kirby game for Wii

Lol at the part when he looks away to try and bring in another character...while at a boss. No worries here! I'll still be in one piece when I return. It does look good though.

But for some reason it leaves a bad taste in my mouth because they just released a Kirby game. Space them out a little bit guys! Surely there's another franchise waiting for an appearance on the Wii.

Well.... let's not forget that the top 3 most wanted 3DS games all have Mario in the title...

Well, to be fair Epic yarn wasnt a Kirby game initially...they just through him in there to make it sell.

Top 3 most wanted including Mario is expected. The world can't get enough of the porky plumber. But that would be some serious overkill if it was 3 upcoming featuring Kirby.

Throwing Kirby into Epic Yarn was a truly great idea. Pushed that title past a million. On its own it probably wouldn't have crossed 300K.

What character, I do wonder, was supposed to star in it? A new IP?

Anyhoo- this game seems stale for two reasons to me: as Streex said, a Kirby game just got released. The other reason? It just seems to want to be what every other Nintendo franchise has tried to be since NSMBW. Co-op of the games we know and feel safe playing.

Come on, this is sort of an insulting pattern. 4 player co-op Mario. Then a co-op DKC Returns. Now we get a Kirby co-op. Hell, even Ubisoft is giving us Rayman Origins. My question is- what franchise will get this "amazing new 4 player" gimmick next?

Down, ZAT, down! As Triz pointed out, Epic Yarn wasn't a true Kirby game, anyway. It's not Kirby without power copying! (I also love the fact that the characters get Smash Bros moves!)

What's more, maybe it's a matter of preference, but I've been dreaming of 4-player co-op versions Nintendo franchises since long before they became a reality- so it's all wish fulfillment for me. I also might point out that it wasn't NSMBW that started this- it was 4-Swords!

I never thought I'd see 4-player Mario or Zelda game, which were what I wanted most, so I'm happy!

I like the 4 player thing. Drop in, drop out with different characters to choose (not just two different colors like Toad). For me, I feel like Nintendo robbed me of $50 with the last Kirby, regardless of it being a true Kirby game or not. Kirby is in the game and on the box. So my feelings are still hurt. That is probably why I can't jump for joy for this one even if it looks more like a true Kirby title. I'm probably going to end up buying it, which means I'll be paying $100 for the Kirby experience I wanted.

When I picked up Epic Yarn off the shelf, I was all smiles as I stared into Kirby's eyes as I took him to the counter. When I pick this one up, I'll be scowling at Kirby and giving him the finger just before I pull out the wallet.

4 swords was an entirely different venture as it required 2 separate system purchases. And its not on the Wii. and it certainly wasn' drop-in, drop-out.

I guess I'm just the only one who never wanted to play with his friends (who are always worse than me) in a sidescrolling platformer.

I don't see it as different at all. Requiring multiple systems was simply an admittedly high barrier to entry, but that's all it was. It had no impact on whether or not the game was 4-player co-op Zelda goodness. As for drop-in drop-out, that's just a more modern feature for convenience, or perhaps an improvement, but still doesn't change anything fundamental. I still think they had 4-swords in mind when they created NSMBW. They were just looking for ways to improve on what didn't work with that title while giving me the Mario game I always wanted.

Opinions are like assholes I'm told. I am talking platformers not just any genre out there.

What's so wrong with co-op games? Don't you guys like playing multiplayer in the same room? Something you rarely get on any other console? Didn't you enjoy NSMBW with 3 friends/family members?

Yes! Give me Sonic co-op. I'll be Shadow. You guys can be Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles.

What's wrong with them? They're ultimately dumbed down so 4 idiots can manage the chaos. True, it was fun to come up with unique solutions but lets get real: I can beat NSMBW with my eyes closed and my fucking hands cut off.

I almost think they should have disallowed single player in that game. Then there would be less whining about how east single player is and how hard multiplayer is.

The thing is- I didn't find the GAME hard at all. I found 3 meddling idiots dying at every turn to be the problem. LOL

I used those meddling idiots as projectiles.

Well it's not like we are getting NSMBW instead of the others. We still got the Galaxy titles. And I actually found it a bit challenging to get every coin, especially the one where you have to ride the wind for several screen lengths to reach a high platform. It's a great title!

Why wouldn't you like a Sonic co-op game? I don't know what you guys feel about the 3D Sonic games of late, but most people don't like them. Maybe a co-op title might add a little more to the franchise. If you don't like the franchise as it stands, it can't hurt.

I didn't say I didn't enjoy the game, just that the notion of co-op is being abused for no real reason. Give me this: no co-op platformer is BETTER than a solo one.

Platforming in games really isn't about teamwork, its about running, jumping, and light puzzle solving. Co-op for Mario was a welcome diversion, but now it just seems like something they are doing to sell a franchise that isn't moving like it used to.

Nope- they're doing it because some of us WANT it.
